Cándido Bidó represents "the essence of the beauty of his sensual homeland and the persevering enchantment of our magic Caribbean," 1 while Dionisio Blanco "reflects his homeland in the vividness and warmth of his palette, providing voice and image to the life of the weak and less fortunate." 2 Guillo Pérez expresses that "the strength of my homeland is what motivates me to paint the color of the Tropics and the universe of my paintings is my island."
It is not by coincidence that this art exhibit reflects through art and philanthropy a sublime love for our Dominican homeland, that "little coral bank that the ocean awarded us." 3 Based on those feelings the Group of Dominican Professionals in Washington DC (GDP-WASH) is honored to celebrate in conjunction with the Dominican Week in the United States this event "Magic Colors of the Caribbean" …colors of life and hope for the less fortunate children of our country and at the same time promoting the Dominican art in particular and Latin American art in general, by contributing to the work of the Center for Latin American Initiatives of the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C..
The GDP-WASH as a non-profit organization works on the promotion of economic, political, social, and cultural events that have a direct or indirect effect on the sustainable development of the Dominican Diaspora in the United States, but even more for the Dominicans that reside in the island.
The Executive board of the GDP-WASH is very grateful to our brilliant artists Cándido Bidó, Dionisio Blanco and Guillo Pérez for letting us show the world their art and their Dominican essence, which makes all of us very proud.
